• Implement a campus-wide awareness building marketing campaign on
sustainability in time to affect incoming Fall, 2008 first-year class
LONG-TERM RECOMMENDATIONS:

evaluate current practices at Loras and compare them to best practices
(these projects can then be used as part of the recommendations for
decreasing Loras’ ecological footprint).
• Implement student-led initiatives, including regular and ongoing
competitions among residence halls, utilizing monthly themes (e.g.,
recycling, water conservation, energy conservation) aimed at reducing
their ecological footprint.
• Establish a Campus Sustainability Coordinator position and/or embed
responsibilities into current positions in appropriate departments that
will oversee education and implementation of Campus Environmental
Stewardship practices.
• Establish and find a grant to fund a community garden and make it
possible for members of the Dubuque community to grow their own
vegetables and fruits; this project could be a demonstration site for
internal and external community
