Thys 5th in discus at NCAA III Championships

Loras College senior Ellen Thys concluded the discus portion of her career on Thursday with a fifth place finish in Oskosh, Wisconsin. Thys earned her third consecutive All-American honors and threw her NCAA III Championships personal best 152'-9" on Thursday. The Victor, Iowa native finished third in 2006 and was second last year at the NCAA meet.

Two other Duhawks will follow Thys' lead in carrying on the female throwers' reputation for years to come. Freshmen Danielle McNally and Heidi Tobin each qualified for the discus as well. McNally was 11th this year (145'-2") and Tobin was 19th (112'-4").

Thys will compete in the hammer throw  in the final event of her career on Friday and McNally will take part in Saturday's shot put competition.
