Lady golfers finish second Jon Denham, Sports Information Director October 6, 2007
The Loras College women's golf team finished the 2007 IIAC Championship tournament in second place on Saturday, their highest finish since 1990 and fourth runner up in IIAC history. The team posted an overall score of 1339.
Stephanie Schwartz climbed the standings on Friday with a low round of 78 to grab second place, a spot she would retain after all the scorecards were turned in on Sunday. Schwartz joins just two other Loras golfers as runners-up in the Duhawks' IIAC tournament history. Loras has never won an individual title, but Schwartz joins Katrina Hammel and current head coach Denise Udelhofen as the second place finishers. Amy Kemp is a three-time All-IIAC performer with her finish this year. She was tenth in 2005 and third last year.
The Duhawks were 12 strokes behind the champion, Wartburg College.
Head Coach Denise Udelhofen was named IIAC Coach of the Year for the second time in three years with the women's team.
