Lady Duhawks win big at home Kristine Mason, SID Assistant February 9, 2008
The Loras College women's basketball team dominated in the Athletics & Wellness Center Saturday afternoon against conference foe, Wartburg College with a final score of 78-59.
The Duhawks had three players in double digits with senior Natalie Pucci and sophomore Lindsay Bava scoring 19 points each, and sopomore Mindy Meyer adding 14 of her own. Pucci hit 4-7 three pointers and completed 50 percent of her total shots. The senior from West Dundee, Illinois had been averaging just over 10 points in the team's last five games, but went on a streak of six straight made field goals to help her to her 19 points. She was also playing two days after an injury to her eye on Thursday at Coe. Bava and Meyer went 6-7 and 8-9 at the free throw line, and the team went 11-13 in the first half.
Junior Sharese Van Sloten and senior Elizabeth Campbell finished with 15 and 13 points for the Knights (11-9, 4-8).
Loras will host the Luther College Norse (9-3, 12-8) next Saturday at 4:00 pm for their final home game and senior night. The Norse knocked off Simpson College at home, handing the Storm their first league (and first NCAA Division III) loss of the season.
