Loras 64 UW Oshkosh 60
The Loras College women's basketball team won their 2007-2008 season opener on Friday night at Rockford College's tournament over UW Oshkosh. The win was the first of head coach Justin Heinzen's career.
The Duhawks prevailed by way of a perfect 10-10 free throw shooting night from high scorer Lisa Morrissey, who also added four field goals to round out her scoring at 18 points. Natalie Pucci drained five three pointers and a single two pointer to finish just behind Morrissey with 17 points. Sophomore guard Lindsay Bava rounded out the double digit scoring with 13 points and added a team high nine rebounds for the Duhawks, who shot just 33% (20-60) from the field in the win, compared to 40% by the Titans.
Loras will face the hosts on Saturday. Rockford College defeated IIAC member Central College with two late free throws on Friday. Tipoff is 3:00 PM. |
