Duhawks will be thinking pink, honoring seniors Saturday Jon Denham, Sports Information Director February 14th, 2008
The Loras College women's basketball team will join over 950 other women's basketball programs this Saturday for their 2:00 PM game in the Athletics & Wellness Center when they "Think Pink".
This is the second year of the "Think Pink" campaign, headed by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. The ten day long effort began on February 8th in gymnasiums across the country. In 2007, the inaugural year of the campaign,120 schools participated in the effort to raise awareness for breast cancer. For 2008, that number has climbed to 958, nearly eight times what it was a year ago.
The Duhawks will once again be sporting their pink shoe laces and head bands (Loras helped kick off the campaign when they hosted Wartburg last Saturday) when they take on the Luther College Norse. Prior to the game Loras will also be recognizing the senior class as part of the final regular season home game.
A table will be set up at the entrance to the Athletics & Wellness Center to collect donations for The Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund. The Loras College women's basketball team will be donating those proceeds at the conclusion of the season. |
