HEAD COACH JUSTIN HEINZEN

PH. - 563-588-7947
EMAIL Coach Heinzen

The 2008-2009 season will mark the second year with head coach Justin Heinzen at the helm. In his first season, Heinzen led the Duhawks to the program's second highest single season winning percentage (.680). After a school record for most consecutive wins (10) and leading the team to a program best 10-0 start, the Duhawks wrapped up the 2007 calendar year 23-3.

Establishing an up-tempo offensive attack, Loras finished among the nation's best in free throw percentage and set single season records for most 3's made in a game, and in a season. Heinzen coached two-time All-Region performer and now-assistant coach Natalie Pucci, as well as first team All-IIAC player Lindsay Bava. The team also boasted a 3.1 team GPA.

Prior to the 17-win season in 2007-2008, Heinzen served as an assistant coach to one of NCAA III's all time winningest coaches, April Arvan, at Lakeland College. In his two years under Coach Arvan, the Muskies went 40-19 with a Lake Michigan Conference regular season and conference championship and an appearance in the NCAA III Tournament. In that two year span, Heinzen coached four all-conference players and one all-rookie team member. He also served as the program's recruiting director.

Heinzne holds an undergraduate degree in American History with a minor in Political Science from Wisconsin Lutheran College (Milwaukee, Wis.). Prior to joining Lakeland, he assisted on the men's team at UW-Manitowoc and was part of the staff that led the Blue Devils to WJCAA Regional and State Championships.

Heinzen, who resides in Dubuque, began his coaching career at Manitowoc Lutheran High School and has since had stints with Reedsville (WI) School District and Higher Level Camps, one of Wisconsin's premier AAU organizations.

ASSISTANT COACH LAUREN JOHNSON

Lauren begins her first season with the Duhawks in 2008-2009. The Black River Falls, Wisconsin native recently earned her bachelor's degree from Clarke College in Athletic Training.

Her three-year Crusaders playing career included a team MVP award, an Academic All-Conference selection, and a lasting impression on the team record books. Johnson finished her career at Clarke in the top ten in scoring, steals, assists, three point field goals made, and free throw percentage.

ASSISTANT COACH NATALIE PUCCI

Natalie transitions from the court to the sidelines for 2008-2009 after a four-year career with the Duhawks that included a number of accolades. With just her student-teaching remaining academically, the four-time All-IIAC performer joins the coaching staff for the upcoming season while she works to complete her undergraduate degree in Education. Her coaching career includes a number of youth camps over the course of her playing days.

The Jacobs High School (Algonquin, Illinois) all time leading scorer also left her stamp on the Loras record books. Pucci's playing career ends as a top ten performer in career points, steals, assists, blocks, three point field goals, and free throw percentage. Now, the West Dundee, Illinois native will contribute to head coach Justin Heinzen's team as a member of the coaching staff.
