HEAD COACH JUSTIN HEINZEN

Head coach Justin Heinzen enters his first season with the Duhawks with the team under his full control after a brief stint as the assistant coach with the Duhawks. The Manitowoc, WI native is responsible for on-court game and practice coaching, scouting, player development, Loras’ inside game, and serves as the program’s recruiting coordinator. Since 2005, Heinzen has served in an assistant coaching capacity for the Women’s basketball program at Lakeland College (Sheboygan, WI). In his first year, the Muskies claimed both the regular season and Lake Michigan Conference tournament championships, and participated in the NCAA Division III national tournament. His duties there included scouting, player development, and recruiting coordinator. In his two seasons with the Muskies, he helped compile a 40-19 record and coached four All-Conference players and one All-Rookie Team member.
Heinzen holds an undergraduate degree in American History with a minor in Political Science from Wisconsin Lutheran College (Milwaukee, WI). Prior to joining Lakeland, he an assisted at UW-Manitowoc and was part of the staff that led the Blue Devils to WJCAA Regional and State Championships.
Heinzen, who resides in Dubuque, began his coaching career at Manitowoc Lutheran High School and has since had stints with Reedsville (WI) School District and Higher Level Camps, one of Wisconsin's premier AAU organizations.
ASSISTANT COACH KERRY JUHLIN

Kerry Juhlin joins the Loras College coaching staff for the 2007-2008 season after a playing career that criss-crossed the state of Iowa before growing at the NCAA Division I level. Her coaching career is now underway after injuries cut her playing career short. Most recently, Juhlin has been a two-year student-assistant for the women's basketball team at UW-Madison under Head Coach Lisa Stone and top assistant Donna Freitag.
The Cedar Falls, Iowa native prepped at Cedar Falls High School for the nationally ranked Tigers where she was the starting point guard for a squad which advanced to the state tournament each of her four years with the team, culminating with the 4A Iowa State Championship in her senior season. Juhlin led the team in assists and steals during her senior season. Following her high school career she joined the team at Drake University as a scholarship athlete where she played under Lisa Stone. After suffering multiple season-ending injuries, Kerry transferred to the University of Wisconsin to work with Stone's staff. Juhlin earned her bachelor's degree in 2006 in Sociology and also earned a coaching degree.
Juhlin will work regularly with the guards on the Loras College team and contribute heavily to the recruiting of future student-athletes, scouting of future opponents, and the day-to-day office duties that are required by the position. |
