The Loras College women's basketball team fell to the #7 Simpson College Storm for the second time in a week Saturday, this time at the AWC, 81-66.
In back-to-back meetings with the Storm, the Duhawks trailed by three points at the intermission but couldn't overcome the Simpson team in the second half. Early in the second half Simpson extended the lead to 46-36 and never really looked back. Loras mounted small comebacks, but the lead remained at 9-13 points throughout the second half.
Lindsay Bava scored a team-high 18 points on the night, going 8-13 from the field. Mindy Meyer followed with 14 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Lisa Morrissey added 12 points, five assists, and two steals.
For the Storm, it was Katelyn Whiton's night. The versatile senior forward scored 27 points on 12-17 shooting. She also hauled in a team-high seven rebounds.
Loras returns to the AWC on Wednesday night when they host the University of Dubuque at 6:00 PM. On December 5th, Loras knocked off the Spartans 79-74 in a closely contested game down the road. |
