Seven Duhawks headed to NCAA III Meet May 19, 2008
The Loras College track and field teams will send seven athletes to compete in six events this weekend in Oskosh, Wisconsin at the NCAA III Championships.
MEN
Chris Buresh will compete in the high jump with 17 other participants. Chris, a junior, enters the chamionships with the 10th best height during the season at 6'-8-1/4". He achieved that height on May 2 at the IIAC Championships.
Junior Kyle Calvert will again be participating in the pole vault. He will try and defeat 15 other vaulters. Kyle currently holds the sixth best height in 2008. Back on April 13th, he posted a season-best 16'-6-1/2" in Platteville, Wisconsin.
WOMEN
Barb Kremer qualified on Wednesday the 14th at the Central Last Chance Meet for the 100 M Hurdles. The sophomore posted the 15th best time in the country at 0:14.66 seconds.
Heidi Tobin will appear in her first NCAA Championships after qualifying in the discus throw with a 2008-best 147'-8" in May 14th at Central's Last Chance Meet.
Liz Ulferts will be in Oskosh as well. The sophomore is #12 in the hammer throw. She also used a last chance meet to post her top distance. On May 16th in Rock Island, Illinois Ulferts went 166'-9".
Two Duhawks will compete in two different throwing events. Danielle McNally will compete in both the shot put and the discus. The freshmen also used the Augustana Last Chance Meet to post both of her season-best marks. She is 18th in the shot put (43'-8-3/4") and 13th in the discus (148'-6") entering the championships.
Ellen Thys headlines the Duhawks' entrants with two top ten marks entering the meet. A captain of the team in her senior season, Thys is 8th in the hammer throw (169'-4") and second in the discus (159'-7"). She is one of three entrants in both events. |
