Loras Duhawks

One of the picturesque venues in the Midwest, the Loras College Rock Bowl has been the home to Duhawk football since 1940, and underwent some major renovations prior to the 2005 season. The new-look Rock Bowl debuted on September 24 as the Duhawks hosted Central College in an Iowa Conference game.

Like the Rose and Cotton Bowls, the Rock Bowl is named from an actual bowl game that was played in the stadium.  In the first Rock Bowl Classic (the final game of the 1940 schedule), the Duhawks played previously unbeaten St. Ambrose to a scoreless tie.  Loras won the inaugural game played at the beginning of the 1940 season, 26-6 over Upper Iowa on October 26.

Heading into the 2005 campaign, the Duhawks own an overall record of 124-77-3 at the Rock Bowl.  Loras has had eight undefeated seasons at home since 1947 (5-0), including 1950 (5-0), 1952 (4-0), 1982 (5-0), 1985 (4-0-1), 1991 (5-0), 1992 (5-0), and 1996 (5-0).

The largest record crowd recorded was 10,000 on October 5, 1947 as the Duhawks defeated St. Ambrose 20-6.
