Duhawks lend helping hands to Albrecht Acres
Jon Denham, Sports Information Director

During the spring of 2008 the Loras College football team volunteered their time on a Saturday to Camp Albrecht Acres in nearby Sherrill, Iowa. Albrecht Acres "provides a unique environment for people with special needs" in the tri-state area. Activities offered by Albrecht Acres include nature study, camping, fishing, swimming, dances, nature trails, hay rides, volleyball, and disc golf.
The Duhawks worked with this non-profit organization with a full day of maintenance and manual labor. The coaching staff and a number of players worked mostly outdoors to clean up the wooded land and high traffic areas of the 40-acre campus. In one day's work, the team was able to help the appearance and function of Albrecht Acres so that they may offer the best service they can to the people who utilize their services.
