Loras 70 North Park 62

The Loras College men's basketball team won their third straight game on Monday night, upping their record to 3-2 for the season with a 70-62 win over the North Park Vikings. After dropping the first two games of the year, the Duhawks have taken three straight from their opponents by margins of 21, 20, and 8 points.
Kyle White recorded his second straight double-double just hours after being named the IIAC's Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Last Wednesday, the senior from Antioch, Illinois hauled in a career high 17 rebounds and dropped 21 points on Central. Tonight, White scored 14 points and corralled 10 rebounds. His effort on Monday leaves him just 11 points shy of the 1,000 point mark for his career at 989.
Other double-figure scorers for Loras were Luke Slater (13 Pts, three blocks), and Ricky Kolze and Brian Centella who each scored 12. Jake Oeth added five offensive rebounds (seven total), two assists, and one steal to a stat line which doesn't do his overall effort much justice. Jason Abbuhl score five points and added five rebounds in just 12 minutes of action as well.
North Park missed 15 three point attempts and shot 37.5% from the field for the game. Their slow-shooting first half did them in, going just 8-30 (27%) from the field in the opening frame, tallying 19 points.
The Duhawks will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel up the boulevard to the University of Dubuque. Tipoff against the Spartans is scheduled for 8:00 PM.
