The Loras College men's basketball team held off a balanced inside/outside Cornell College attack on Saturday in the Athletics & Wellness Center to move to 4-0 in the IIAC with an 81-70 win. It was the first home game in over a month for the men's team.
Four Duhawks scored in double figures, led by Luke Slater who dropped in 19. Kyle White (16), Brian Centella (11), and Ricky Kolze (17) rounded out the doubled digit scoring. Kolze returned to action for the first time since December 18th when he sprained an ankle at Ashford University and made three of four three pointers.
Loras held the Rams to single-digit scoring for the first 12:11 of the game before a free throw put the visitors within nine at 19-10.
Griffin LaDew scored his average of 17 points for Cornell, who dropped to 3-1 in the league with the loss.
The Duhawks shot 51% from the field compared to 39% by the Rams.
Loras returns to action in the AWC on Wednesday to host the Buena Vista Beavers, last year's opponent in the IIAC title game. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:00 PM.
