The Loras College men's basketball team had their winning streak halted at nine on Saturday when they fell in Storm Lake to Buena Vista University. The Beavers won the season series with the Duhawks by a combined three points with Saturday's win. On January 16th, the Beavers knocked of Loras by two points on a late jumper by Andre Wagner.
Wagner once again headlined BV's stat line, dropping in 22 points in Saturday's win after scoring 21 in the first matchup. Loras held a slim three points lead at the half, but the Beavers made over 50% of their shots in the second half, including five three-pointers and 16 free throws.
Four Duhawks fouled out of the game, including starters Jake Oeth, Kyle White, and Brian Centella. Alex Brant and Centella were both sidelined with over eight minutes remaining in the game.
Luke Slater led the way for the Duhawks with 19 points. Kyle White followed closely with 17. Loras won the rebounding battle, and the teams combined for a clean 20 turnovers.
Loras will host either Coe or Cornell on Thursday night in an IIAC semifinal at the AWC. Tipoff is 7:00 PM.
