The Rev. John P. Schlegal

The Rev. John P. Schlegel, S.J., joined the Board of Regents in October 2004.  He currently serves as the 23rd President of Creighton University, a post he has held since 2000.  He entered the Society of Jesus in 1963 and was ordained in 1973 after completing Bachelors and Masters degrees at St. Louis University, a theology degree from the University of London, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in international relations from Oxford University. 

Fr. Schlegel began his career at Creighton University in 1978 as the Assistant Academic Vice President.  He left Creighton to serve as the Academic Dean of Rockhurst College and subsequently served as Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences at Marquette University and Executive and Academic Vice President at John Carroll University.  His first presidency was in 1991 at the University of San Francisco.  He attended Loras in 1962.
