Worship at Loras

Adoration

Adoration

Loras College has daily adoration from 9:00AM to 4:00PM Monday through Friday in the St. Joseph's Adoration Chapel. This is a great place for students to take time out of their day to reflect, pray, and refresh themselves from a day full of classes, work, and extracurricular activities.

Liturgical Ministry

Liturgical Ministries – Worship at Loras College is on the move! Students are encouraged to become more active in the celebrations through their participation in liturgical ministries. Opportunities within the Sunday and weekday celebrations of the Eucharist include: greeter/hospitality (welcome people to Loras worship); lector (proclaim Scripture readings); Eucharistic minister (assist in distributing Holy Communion); acolytes (serve in the sanctuary at the altar); sacristan (prepare vessels, hosts and wine for Eucharistic celebrations). Some (but not all) of these ministries are open to people of any denomination.

Mass Musicians

Liturgical Music Ministry – A large number of student musicians regularly participate in accompanying/leading congregational, instrumental and vocal music for worship at Loras College. All instruments are welcome! Weekly rehearsals, and one-hour prior to the weekend Eucharist. Open to anyone of any talent, ability or denomination who is willing to rehearse and practice music. .

Worship Team

Worship Team

Worship Team – Meeting weekly, this team plans weekend worship a month in advance. Activities include study and discussion of weekend Scripture readings, brainstorming homily themes and their relationship to music. Included in the planning are any seasonal celebrations, selection of liturgical music, seasonal chapel environments, planning reconciliation services, Morning Prayer, Eucharistic Adoration, Fall Welcome Mass, Homecoming, Family Weekend, Baccalaureate and other major liturgical observances of the College. Open to everyone, this group also consists of the student liturgical coordinators for music, lectors, Eucharistic ministers, greeters/hospitality and sacristans. The Worship Team also has the responsibility of liturgical training.

The Grotto is a nice place to reflect. Somewhat tucked away in campus, it allows students, faculty, and staff to slip away from the busyness of life and refect and enjoy nature. There are usually a couple of Wednesday night Masses celebrated in the Grotto each semester when the weather is nice.
