Marriage Preparation Programs and Services

Engaged Encounter

Engaged Encounter is a weekend (Friday through Sunday afternoon) for the couples to deepen their relationship with each other and God on topics of self-knowledge, human sexuality, communication, decision making, Natural Family Planning, sacraments and more. Weekends are held at the American Martyrs Retreat House, Cedar Falls. For registration information, contact the Family Life Office.

Pre-cana

Pre-cana is a marriage preparation program that highlights areas important to a marriage, such as communication, sexuality, finances and more. Time for couple dialogue is provided.

SPONSOR COUPLE

Sponsor Couple is a marriage preparation program using Fr. Robert Ruhnke’s book For Better and For Ever (2003 edition). An engaged couple meets with a sponsor couple who is trained to assist them in preparing for marriage by helping the couple reflect upon the realities of married life.

Natural Family Planning and Fertility Care

Natural Family Planning (NFP) is a morally acceptable and natural way to responsibly plan the size of your family and strengthen your marriage. Contact: Kirsten Lilligard, FCPI, 563 585-2103
