L.LEA 195 – Study Abroad China or Russia
Overview: This conference is a fourteen-day immersion in the culture, politics, and business of a foreign country for high-performing high school students. Through lectures, guest speakers, site visits, and cultural events, students will gain exposure to a whole new perspective. In addition, students are taken through LeadAmerica’s leadership curriculum, which is designed to help them enhance their abilities to lead in their personal, academic, and professional lives. Students who complete the course earn one college credit from Loras College (a second credit is optional). This summer this program is offered in Russia and China.

Readings: Students will be given approximately 40 pages of background material on the country they are visiting.
Off-site experiences: Students in China will visit Beijing, Shanghai and Xi’an and a number of historical and cultural sites in the cities including a Chinese acrobatics show, and the Great Wall. Students in Russia will visit Moscow, St. Petersburg and Pushkin and a number of historical and cultural sites in the cities including the Bolshoi Theater, and Catherine’s Palace. |
