About Us

The Kucera Center’s strives to support Catholic intellectual and spiritual life at Loras College and in the Archdiocese of Dubuque, drawing on this work to share information and exchange ideas with those from other Catholic colleges and dioceses, the larger Catholic community, and other faith traditions. 

In pursuit of this mission, we focus in particular on four key areas:     

·         Supporting the ongoing development of Catholic identity at Loras College and serving as a resource for other colleges undergoing similar explorations

 

·         Supporting the ongoing pastoral needs of the Archdiocese of Dubuque as it faces the challenges of the Church in the 21^st Century and serving as a resource for other dioceses facing similar challenges

 

·         Supporting ongoing reflection on the role of Loras as a diocesan college and serving as a resource for other diocesan colleges across the country 

 

·         Supporting the ongoing participation by members of the Loras community in explorations of the Catholic tradition, its diverse expressions, its ecumenical character, and its role in the larger world     

The Kucera Center sponsors workshops, symposia, speakers, research, retreats, travel, publications, and other activities consistent with its mission.  It also draws on this work to maintain a collection of on-line resources for those pursuing similar efforts around the country.
