Research Interests Invasive species – their ecology and management, Plant population dynamics and demography, plant-animal interactions, human impacts on biological diversity, sustainable use of natural resources, nontimber forest products, and use of Geographic Information Systems in conservation and management.

Why would you encourage a prospective student to come to Loras for a Major in Biology or Biology Research?The faculty members in the Biology department have a wide range of expertise and skills in various areas of biology and are extremely committed to teaching, research and advising. Students can get exposure and skill in various biological sciences, as well as lab and field techniques. Students here get a well-rounded experience, which is further enhanced by the small class sizes.
What is the best part about being a faculty member at Loras? I enjoy the interaction with my colleagues and students, and the congenial atmosphere. Small class sizes encourage an informal atmosphere and help build a rapport with the students.
