LORAS ALERT CURRENT STATUS

On June 11, 2009, the World Health Organization (WHO) raised the worldwide pandemic alert level to Phase 6 in response to the ongoing global spread of the novel influenza A (H1N1) virus. A Phase 6 designation indicates that a global pandemic is underway. This strain of influenza is a virus which causes a febrile, respiratory illness.
Loras College has a Pandemic Flu Plan which includes an infectious disease protocol and Crisis Response Team. The College will follow the recommendations of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH).
The Health Center is staying up to date with information and is continually informing the campus community about the H1N1 virus, signs and symptoms to look for, good hand washing and proper respiratory hygiene. Students are encouraged to contact the Health Center with questions or concerns.
