Pre Podiatry at Loras
Students interested in podiatry should take the list of courses shown as prerequisites for medical school as shown on that webpage. Students need a GPA of 3.2 or higher to be competitive applicants for podiatry school upon graduation. There is evidence that the demand for podiatrists will increase in the next 10-20 years as more people get older and they try to stay more active. This combination will lead to more podiatrists treating foot and lower extremity problems.
Critical Factors for Admission:
- Shadowing several different podiatrists is very important. Students will gain insights on common and uncommon foot ailments as well as direct patient contact and one-on-one conversations with practicing physicians.
- Most students need to take the general GRE or MCAT as the admissions test for podiatry school.
