Alternative Housing Options Smyth Hall, New Apartments, Byrne Oaks and campus houses are referred to as alternative housing. These options, available primarily to juniors and seniors, are designed to offer greater personal responsibility and flexibility in establishing community standards. Each resident living in Smyth Hall or Byrne Oaks must have at least 30 credits and a 2.0 cumulative GPA to be eligible to live in these options. Students requesting to live in the New Apartment Complex or the Campus Houses must have at least 50 credits and a 2.0 cumulative GPA to be eligible to live in these options. Each of these areas provides a different focus, yet all offer a less structured environment for living and learning. Smyth Hall Located centrally on campus, Smyth Hall (right) contains 22 single rooms and 1 double room. The building is coed; however each floor is single-sex. Common area bathrooms, kitchen, laundry facilities, washer and dryer, study lounge, lounge area, couches, television.
This complex (left) is a 17 unit facility. Each unit consisting of a shared kitchen and living room, two double bedrooms, two single bedrooms, and two baths. Couches, chairs, and a kitchen set are provided, as well as a bed, dresser, desk, and desk chair for each student. The facility is coed; however, each unit is single-sex. Campus Houses College-owned Houses surround our beautiful campus. Loras currently owns 16 houses on the perimeter of campus that house three to four students each. Houses are unfurnished with the exception of standard issue bedro New Apartment Complex This complex (right) is a 19 unit facility, with each unit consisting of a shared kitchen, living room, and bath, with four single furnished bedrooms. Couches, chairs, and a kitchen set are provided. The facility is coed; however, each unit is single-sex. |
