Parent Council and Family Association:
Family Council Purpose: The Loras Parents Council is an advisory board to the college made up of parent representatives who are appointed by the president of the college. The Parent’s Council meets 3 times a year on campus and coordinates ongoing activities and events with Parents Association volunteers, through five standing service committees: Admissions Support, Parent’s Fund, Parent Communication, Parent Ambassadors, and Parents in Prayer Committees. Each council member will chair one of the 5 liaison committees. The chairs of each committee will work directly with the respective office on campus. The members of the council will also coordinate the volunteer efforts of the Parent Association.
The Loras College Parent Council fosters communication between the college and parents in order to improve the quality of the Loras experience for all students and their parents. Members of the Parents Council are a resource for all parents and will assist with questions and act as liaisons to appropriate college resources, volunteer opportunities, and administrative contacts. The Parents Council is coordinated through the Student Life Office.
Family Association Purpose:
The Parent Association is a volunteer group that’s goal is to support the general educational, co-curricular, and financial objectives of the college. The Parent’s Association provides Loras parents a voice, assisting in recruitment and being well informed ambassadors of the college. The Parent Association meets once a year during Family Weekend. The Parents Association is coordinated through the Student Life Office.
Parent Council and Association Outcomes:
• Promote parent’s knowledge and understanding of Loras College’s academic and co-curricular programs and policies.
• Provide a communication channel between parents and the college
• Provide a communication channel among parents.
• Assist in recruitment of new students.
• Promote the development efforts of the college through fund-raising and parent appeal.
• To serve as an effective spokesperson, ambassador, and advocate for the college.
