Loras Students Talk About Their Study Abroad Experiences: Here’s what Loras Students have to say about their Study Abroad experiences:
“ While studying abroad I not only learned about the countries I visited but I also came to new realizations about the world's view on the United States. Being in Ireland not only gave me some great memories but I left there knowing that the last four months would forever influence my future.”
-Mariah Powers, Ireland
“ Studying abroad is a time for you to be selfish; it is a time for you to develop who you are and who you want to be. The life long learning experiences that come about while being abroad will never be fully understood unless you take that opportunity to go out of your comfort zone and experience life in another country. If I had to sum up how my experience in Spain changed me it would be more self-confidence, more globally aware, and a yearning to learn about and connect with people from all over the world.”
-Jessica Welp, Spain
“ The South African program fully allows you to dive into their culture and meet people from all over the world. Coming back I definitely felt more self confident, open minded, and knowledgeable about the world. My experience will help me in my career and all aspects of my life because I can easily adapt to any situation after living in another country by myself for six months. One big realization that I have made is learning that the world is extremely connected. We are all part of a global community and I recommend everyone take a semester abroad, it will change your life.”
-Liz Piriczky, South Africa
“Studying abroad helped me to realize that I am a part of a much larger community; the world we live in is so much larger and more diverse than I ever imagined.”
-Maureen Ryan, Italy
“I encourage others to study abroad; it is a totally unique experience and I wish every college student would take part because there is nothing else like it.”
-Brenda Arens, London, England
Requirements to Study Abroad Students must have a 2.5 minimum GPA and 40 semester hours completed prior to departure.
